FAQ

From time to time we receive questions about certain topics related to our products and business. Below we answer some of the more common questions.

Q: "What is the difference between your "Ultimate" and your "Premium" vinyl wraps?"

A: In the simplest way to describe the two, our Ultimate films are produce using a PET backer while our Premium films are produced on a paper backer. The PET liner gives a much more clear gloss, as close to paint as you can get, where our Premium has what some would consider more "orange peel" and is less glossy. Our Ultimate vinyl series also offers more vivid and deeper coloring compared to our Premium films. Our Premium vinyl is slightly more user friendly on install compared to our Ultimate vinyls. Below you can see our Ultimate Gloss on the left and our Premium Gloss on the right:

Q: "How much material should I order?"

A: Our 59' roll should cover most small to mid sized SUVs and mid to large sedans. 75' will cover most mid to large size SUV. 85' will be enough to do most pickups. We recommend ordering more than you need to allow a panel redo or two.

Tips for calculating material needs:

  • If a panel is less than 30" in either height or length, you can take the longer measurement and then get two pieces.
    • Example: If your driver side front fender is 27"L x 36"H, use the 36" as opposed to the shorter 27" dimension as your measurement. By doing this, you will cut a 36" (fender) x 60" (width of vinyl roll) piece of material. You can then cut that roll into two 36"x30" pieces that will do both front fenders.
      • Cutting two fenders at 27"x36" will have you using 54" of material vs 36" of material listed in the material savings example above.
      • This trick may not work for directional films.
  • Most cars front and rear bumper heights are both less than 30". Because of this, you can simply take the measurement of the longer bumper, cut the material, and then cut the roll in half to 30" x length of longer bumper.
    • **Normally the longer bumper is the rear one so you would usually use that bumper for this measurement**
    • **this material savings trick won't work if both bumper heights added together equal a measurement very close to or over 60". Example would be Charger or Challenger bumpers**
      • You want extra material (roughly 2-3" on the top and bottom of bumper) if you are vinyl wrapping a bumper yourself. The material will pull in as you stretch it (unless you have an extra hand to pull the material up and down while you pull the material) around the bumper.

Q: "Your products say self healing. What do you mean by that?"

A: Our products are just that. They are self healing. Minor marks and scratches you normally would see in your paint due to improper washing techniques (commonly referred to as swirl marks) can be removed, or healed, from our vinyl. You simply let the car sit in the sun or use a heat gun to "remove" them. Unfortunately, however, deeper and more aggressive scratches and damages most likely will not come out of our vinyl.

Q: “When will my order ship?”

A: Orders are processed within 1-2 business days and usually ship no later than 3-4 business days after an order is processed.

Q: "Will vinyl wrap damage my vehicles paint?"

A: In almost all circumstances, vinyl will not damage your paint during removal. If your vehicle has been repainted, the chances of paint coming up with the vinyl do increase. This doesn't just apply to our vinyl, however. Also, if you have a white vehicle, from time to time the adhesive will leave a yellow-ish tint on the clear coat. Luckily though it is only temporary. The fix is to simply expose the affected paint to the sun for a few days and the yellowing will disappear on its own.

Also keep in mind, new vehicles can be repainted due to damage during transport to the dealership. This type of damage usually occurs at the port during on and offloading of the ship and it happens more often than people realize. When this happens, it is almost never documented on a vehicles history report.

Q: "How do I care for my vehicles wrap?"

A: We recommend a few things when caring for your vehicles wrap. The first thing would be to get it ceramic coated immediately after install if possible. This will add significant life to your wrap.

We also suggest hand washing your vehicle and no automated car wash. We can make the exception that touch-less automated carwashes are fine.

We also suggest using a soap pH-neutral soap when washing. We recommend DIY Details Incredible Suds Exterior Car Cleaner. We pair it with their Quick Beads Graphene infused paint protectant for ultimate protection and appearance.

Lastly, any contamination such as bird droppings or oils should be removed ASAP. The longer they sit on the vinyl, the more likely they are to damage it. Even a couple hours of a contaminant sitting on the vinyl may leave damage.

Q: "How do I know if the Two Dogs Vinyl Wrap I am ordering is Ultimate or Premium?"

A: All our offerings that come in both series will allow you to choose on what series you want to purchase products page whether you want Ultimate or Premium before adding it to your cart. If the product only comes in one of our series, it will be the only available option to choose from down near the size option on that specific products page.

Q: "How long is your vinyl good for?"

A: Our vinyl wrap will last on your vehicle for up to 5 years depending on the climate and conditions the vinyl wrap sees. An example of a 5 year vehicle would be one that is garage kept and is only driven maybe 400 miles a year. We recommend removing the wrap no later than 3 years for most installs. The longer the vinyl remains installed after that period of time, the more likely the vinyl is to become difficult to remove. Just like most vinyl brands, vehicles in high sun and high heat areas should expect to see life expectancies between 1-2 years and removal considerations should be made.

Q: "Does vinyl hide imperfections in the paint?"

A: Sometimes it does, but it may also expose and amplify an imperfection depending on the color or finish of the vinyl. Tiny scratches and minor rock chips tend to not show through our vinyl seeing as it is a slightly thicker material. It won't make them unseeable, but it may hide them. If using body filler, make sure it is sanded completely smooth. Body filler imperfections, such as high and low spots along with raised edges, tend to be amplified with vinyl.
